I’m so excited to share this sweet couple with you!!! I shoot mostly outdoor weddings, HOWEVER, I’m also a sucker for fabulous people, and amazing traditions/culture!
Allie and Brock are some of the most genuine, kind folks out there. I’m so honored that they had me capture their special day! My sweet photographer friend, Gabrielle Halle spent the day shooting with me. 🙂 So grateful for amazing and talented friends in this industry!
Allie and Brock had a Serbian Wedding, so there were a lot of new traditions to learn about. What a FUN crowd. And, there was music EVERYWHERE.
And dancing everywhere there was music.
Oh…. and booze everywhere there was music and dancing.
That combination was present from the VERY BEGINNING of the day until the VERY END.
So with that said…. Get excited to learn about Serbian Weddings….
Allie’s gorgeous blush pink dress & her Kate Spade shoes!
Love the touches of baby’s breath in the day. If you follow the blog you know that I’m working on my green thumb. It’s my best year yet, but I do kill succulents like it’s my job….
This year I planted baby’s breath… it’s looking healthy, but I have yet to see a bud. Womp womp.
Speaking of plants… I felt SO BAD, but I knocked over a plant that was on a table in Allie’s parents living room. I felt horrible. It was such a mess… Her mom was so kind about it. #weddingfail
I guess I am just destined to be a serial plant killer. And you know when I left the house I had so many horrible thoughts about that plant that spilled… I started thinking about how it could have been a very special plant from a funeral of a loved one, or some other significant event… Her sweet friend who was at the house assured me that it wasn’t the case, but I can’t even tell you the dreaded feeling that crept in my heart as I thought about all of the possibilities…
Thank you Mrs. J for being so incredibly gracious about it.
Allie had hangers on commando strips for all of her girls. Amazing idea. Put that idea in your back pocket brides to be!
And there was a basket of Rosemary Sprigs for all of the guests to wear. I was reading about the tradition and it sounds like the bridesmaids make them the night before and sell them to the guests. The money goes to the bride and groom.
Allie and her Kuma (Maid/Matron of Honor)
And on to the Skup!
This was so much fun to witness! Basically the Kum (Best Man) barters for Allie, for Brock. 🙂 There’s lots of music, food, drinking…. and the guests are at the brides house to watch and enjoy.
The bartering! (a guitar, alcohol, money….)
Even a “bride”
And the flasks on the left were passed around all day. If I researched right, they hold the Rakia (alcohol)
Finally Brock gets his bride to be!
Music, dancing, and drinking ensue…
We did a few family photos in the backyard, and I grabbed a few of Allie & Brock as well. 🙂
Love them. They are such a fun, laid back couple… and as you can see… Brock is a bit of a ham.
Lots of laughter with these two… LOTS.
A few outtakes…
This is one of my favorite moments of the day…. I went around front to capture an image of their house while all of the festivities were still going on, and Allie’s dad was just sitting in the quiet on the front porch.
It so touched my heart. He was pretty emotional about the day. I can only imagine what he was sitting there thinking about…
I can only speculate…. but I imagine his mind being flooded with great memories. Her birth, her laughter as a child, her running around the yard and dancing on his feet… cheering her on in her activities… teaching her to drive… her first job… leaving for college…. and now this.
His baby girl getting married.
I bet it felt like it happened in the blink of an eye.
So this takes us to the ceremony… I love daddy-daughter relationships. My dad is so dear to my heart, and so it’s one of my favorite things about the wedding day. These moments are precious.
And… there were so many interesting traditions in their Orthodox Serbian Wedding Ceremony… here’s a favorite few of Allie and Brock during the ceremony. 🙂
And then you guessed it!
Celebration in the church parking lot!
With music, dancing, and booze.
We stopped in Oakmont on the way to the reception for some photos. So thankful that it wasn’t raining!!! However, it was in the 90’s… and folks were crazy hot.
This is too funny. When I was taking photos of Allie, I told her to look at Brock…. so she busts out laughing. This is why.
They made a donation to Cribs for Kids. One of their dear friends who was present lost their son.
Toasts… And these lovely ladies sang to Allie & Brock. (Of course the band played as well….)
And for the toast by the Kum, some of the members of the band played on the stage, but they used a bass…. that was a surprise gift for Brock! He was elated!
Thank you guys so much for having me on your incredible day!!!!
I hope that you are having an AMAZING honeymoon!!!!
