So these 2 are about to celebrate 8 years of marriage. They are an incredibly sweet couple, and they’ve got 4 little ones under the age of 6. So, needless to say, they’ve got a lot on their plate… I can only imagine how hard it might be to love your spouse well and intentionally with 4 sweet (and needy) little human beings running around. So we wanted to share a little of their story with you in hopes to encourage you in your marriage. 🙂
We spent some time in Lawrenceville… and they ended on a date at Smoke.
How long have you been married? What is your anniversary date?
Almost 8 years, 10/11/08
How did you meet?
We met at a Young Life cookout on the weekend before we started our freshman year of college.
What is your favorite date night?
We really enjoying going out for dinner at restaurants we’ve never been to before.
What is the best marriage advice that you have to offer (or have been given)?
Feel free to add as much as you’d like!
Premarital counseling was a blessing for us. We learned how to fight fair & well. Always make it a priority to try to understand your spouse’s perspective. Don’t speak in absolutes (“You never do this…”, “You always do this…”) or immediately accuse. Instead, talk more about how you feel.
What is the hardest thing about marriage for you as a couple?
Prioritizing quality time together.
What is the most amazing/rewarding things about marriage for you as a couple?
Definitely creating our family and raising our four daughters as a team.
How has marriage made you grow as an individual and/or couple?
Mike’s strengths bring out my strengths (and vice versa), so we have become stronger as we work as a team.
What are you looking forward to in your marriage in the next 5-10 years?
Growing closer as a couple as we watch our girls grow up and to share in their interests and what excites them. Also, we are so excited to invest in and support our community more since we won’t be chasing babies around.
Loved, spending an evening with them documenting their relationship. 🙂 A crazy storm blew through at the end, so we borrowed someone’s umbrella for a few shots….
I’ll have more info coming soon, but if you or someone you know might want to do a session to celebrate an anniversary, don’t hesitate to reach out! I really believe every year is worth celebrating. Marriage is hard, hard work, but so worth it!
